Description

Key board consisting of an 1/2" thick white pine board (Pinus strobus) with thirteen flat-head wood screws in four rows of four, three, four, and two screws per row, protruding about 3/4" from which keys were hung. This board is trimmed on all four sides with 13/16" x 1 13/16" white pine molded edge pieces butted and nailed to the key board edges. A small, open top box is present at the lower, proper right corner. Another piece of white pine with a shaped top and a 1 1/8" diameter hanger hole in its center is wood screwed to the top for hanging the key board on the wall. Centered in the top molded trim, a piece of tin-plated sheet metal is set into the molded edge and folded around the front and bottom edges of the board. It is secured with brass escutcheon pins. The 13 screws are or were labeled A through M; some of the letters have nearly worn away.
