Crock
Three-gallon stoneware crock used in the medicine department, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Three-gallon stoneware crock and lid with a salt glaze. The outside of the crock is a glossy tan-gray, and the inside is coated with a dark brown Albany slip. The crock features a cobalt slip-trailed design of a bird on a branch. What appear to be vertical rib marks wrap around the center of the crock. The crock has two lug handles, one on each side. The knob and top of the lid are coated in what appears to be dark brown Albany slip under a clear glaze, and the rest of the outer lid and inner lip are a satin tan-gray. The rest of the inside of the lid is naked; a matter yellow. What appear to be throwing lines run around the inside of the lid.
