Description

Tinsmith's work station consisting of (a) a rimmed tray of white pine with a fixed soldering iron holder which is a cast iron post with an upward facing arc segment at its top and a tang at bottom inserted through an iron strap and into the tray bottom; another forged iron post to hold a hollow iron sphere which has been lost; a sheet metal heat shield nailed to the bottom; a small rectangular sheet metal pan screwed to bottom (7/8" x 2 1/4" x 3 3/4"); and a hemispherical brass bowl screwed to bottom. Also found with tray, (b) a small sheet metal open box, unfinished, containing 3 small pieces of sheet metal (c,d,e), five 3 5/8" long segments of copper wire (f), a piece of sheet metal, 2 1/2" x 8 3/8" (g), and a congealed blob of solder (h), about 1/8" x 3" x 5."
