Plaque of brass, copper, and bonded to a lead plate. Text and decoration incised into surface of plaque; text reads: "IMPROVED / SHAKER WASHING MACHINE / N.A. BRIGGS / SHAKER VILLAGE, N.H. / PATENTED July 23, 1877".
