Two-door hanging cupboard, Mount Lebanon, NY

Object ID:

Community:
New York, Mount Lebanon
Description

Two door hanging cupboard of white pine. Proper right side has one shelf, proper left side has two. Doors are frame and two-panel with rails mortised and tenoned into stiles and center stiles similarly joined to rails. Doors have been modified: top, bottom, and inner beads of insides have been routed off, wood panels removed, and glass panes installed and held by stops nailed to shoulders where beads were removed. Each door is hinged by a pair of cast iron butt hinges. Knobs, one per door, are between-centers turned beech. Shelves are housed in ends and center partition. Top, bottom, and back boards are nailed to case components. Appears to have originally been painted yellow but has been scraped and refinished.
