Description

Two drawer sewing stand with round mahogany top, turned cherry pedestal, and three mahogany feet. Pedestal is secured to top by a mahogany cleat (quirked arrises) which is screwed to the underside of the top and through which the top tenon of the pedestal is mortised. To either side, a pair of small mahogany cleats, also quirked, are nailed to the underside of the top as well. All of the cleats are rabetted on the upper insides which support the two hanging drawers via cleats tacked to the top outsides of the drawer sides and which slide in the rabets. The drawers are of mahogany, except for cherry fronts, and are nicely dovetailed. Bottoms are nailed in. Each drawer is fitted with a turned mahogany knob secured to the drawer front by a wood screw (drawer knobs do not match). The running dovetails securing the feet to the pedestal are reinforced by an iron plate secured with wood screws.
