Silk and straw summer bonnet owned by Sister Emma J. Neale, Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Summer bonnet with oversize blinders, woven of straw. Splints alternate between a natural color and a dark brown. Trimmed at the front brim and where the crown joins the back with a woven straw tape about 3/8" wide. Pleated, chocolate brown silk with a 1/4" wide gold border attached to the back of the bonnet and the back 4" of the sides. A darker brown silk ribbon, about 1 1/4" wide and about 20" long, attached to the sides of the bonnet and used for ties.
