The Shaker Village, Canterbury, N. H.
Description
"The Shaker Village at Canterbury, N. H." was printed from the same wood engraving (or a stereotype or an electrotype made from the original wood engraving) that was used to print "The Village of the United Society of Shakers, in Canterbury, N. H.," that appeared in the November, 1835, issue of The American Magazine of Useful and Entertaining Knowledge. Rather than being printed in black ink, this copy is printed in a dark blue ink with the title, "The Shaker Village at Canterbury, N. H.," printed in red ink in an arc in the sky over the village. The purpose and source of this printing of the image are yet to be discovered.
