Description

Segment of the rack on the inside of the 26' diameter water wheel mounted on felloes of probably maple (Acer spp.). The segment is made of 2+ fragments of the double-layered felloes with 2+ sections of the iron rack gear. Portions of the felloes are badly decayed.

Notes

According to accession records, the rack was cast from pattern 1950.2377.1. The pinion gear, shaft, and rack segment were removed from the ruins of the Church Family sawmill in 1964.
