Description

Two virtually identical wrapped handles with tiny loops at each end for fastening. The core material in both is likely rattan and the wrapping very thin ash (Fraxinus spp.) veneer.

Notes

On a visit to the Shaker Museum in 1956, Eldress Gertrude Soule identified such handles as having been used on "biform" poplarware boxes.
