Description

Hanging shelf constructed with recycled white pine (Pinus strobus) lumber. Bolted to the top of the shelf is an oval box follower, also of white pine. Nailed to the top of the follower at its outside edge is a 3/8" thick, 1 1/8" x 2 5/8" piece of pine and a 1/4" diameter hole is drilled into the assembly along the juncture of the follower and the scab.

Notes

1960.11746.1 is another sized follower that was used with this shelf device. It seems likely that it was used in the production of oval boxes, but it is not clear how.
