Description

Wood, dome lid trunk covered with hair-on hide secured with brass-headed upholstery tacks. Iron chest handle mounted on each end. Lid hinged with iron butt hinges and was secured by an iron half-mortise lock; lock has been removed from the front to allow lid to be opened with lock in tow. Interior lined with white paper. Dome lid appears to be white pine (Pinus strobus). Trunk bottom is basswood (Tilia americana). Leather is brittle and has pulled away from trunk.
