Description

Thirty-four carrier handles of sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua). Planed, bent, and shaped but not sanded, drilled, or cut to finish lengths. Each leg of the handles have two pencil marks across them near their ends; one for final length and the one above for the position of the rivet hole.

Notes

The only other sweet gum artifacts in the museum's collection are other oval box and carrier made by Lillian Barlow and William Perkins at the Second Family, Mount Lebanon. These pieces likely originate there.
