Description
Carrier handle of a reddish brown, diffuse porous hardwood which, if domestic, is probably sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua). One pencil line is drawn across each leg 5/8" above rounded bottom and a 9/64" diameter hole drilled through the fore of the handle, centered in its width.
Notes
The only other sweet gum artifacts in the museum's collection are oval box and carrier bands made during the Lillian Barlow / William Perkins era at Mount Lebanon; this handle could date to that era as well.
