Description

Cancellation stamp used in the Mount Lebanon post office. Sawn and carved to shape from a block of maple (Acer spp.). The stamp has three grooves sawn parallel across the bottom. The inner surfaces of the four ridges thus formed were then tapered to create four parallel lines that could be inked and used to cancel postage stamps.
