Pipe auger or log borer. Long hexagonal shaft which transitions to spiral and then screw at end. Opposite end has square opening through which an L-shaped wooden crank is inserted.
Acquired by the donor from a farmer whose property was adjacent to the Tyringham, MA Shaker site, so attributed to the Tyringham Shakers on that basis.
