Work table used in the Medicine Department, Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Crudely constructed work table. White pine (Pinus strobus) top and end and side aprons. Tapered square legs of a diffuse porous hardwood, probably maple (Acer spp.) or birch (Betula spp.). Painted a deep red. Top is two tongue-and-groove joined boards.
Notes
Accession information does not state a history of how or where this piece was used, but there is a nearly identical table in the collection of Hancock Shaker Village (1962-430) which was described as having come from the Mount Lebanon medicinal herb shop.
