Description

Multi-panel wood fireplace door. Smaller panel (b) has a rectangular door with a turned wood knob on right side, near top. Below knob is a wooden latch and has two hammered metal hinges on opposite side. Door is tongue-and-groove and tenon jointed. Reverse of door has a sheet of tin which extends onto the door frame. The door frame is mortise and tenon jointed with a convex bulge at center. This sits within a large frame (a) with a reciprocal convex cut to fit door frame. The two panels are secured to one another by a wooden latch on either side. Top board of panel has a rectangular piece of wood which protrudes from the rest. Front of fireplace door is stained.
