Description

Pink lusterware porcelain teacup and saucer. Decorated with metallic pink bands with raspberry-colored dashes around the rim and below the handle on the teacup, and around the rim and the base of the saucer. Pink band around the inside of the cup below the rim. Hand-painted floral decorations in repeating pattern around the exterior of the cup and the saucer; flower painted inside the base of the cup. Black marks (maker's mark?) on the bottom of the saucer.

Notes

Given to the museum by Eldress Emma B. King of the Canterbury, NH, Shakers. According to Eldress Emma, this teacup and saucer was brought by Mother Ann Lee on the voyage from England to the United States in 1774.
