Description

Brass escape wheels with steel pinions. The wheels have teeth which are tapered and are angled in one direction so that the wheel only travels in one direction. One wheel (.41) has four spokes that connect the center to the outer ring; (.42-.44) have five spokes; (.45) has six spokes; and (.46,.47) are solid disks. Each pinion has a wheel which comprises two brass rings and steel pegs; (.47) is the only escape wheel which has a solid wheel at the end of the pinion. The seconardy wheels on the pinions are all near toward one end except for (.45) which has the secondary wheel just below the escape wheel.
