Description

T-handled open nose taper auger of forged steel. Rectangular shaft terminates in a flattened tang inserted through a between-centers turned birch handle. The tang is clinched into the top of the handle. The shaft was fashioned from two pieces of steel: one, the shaft emanating from the auger and the other at the tang end. There two pieces were scarfed and welded to yield one piece.
