Casting pattern for a stove component, Sabbathday Lake, ME
Description
Foundry pattern of white pine for the top to a stove. The pattern consists of a 1/2" x 7 3/16" x 27 1/16" piece of white pine with a 4 5/16" diameter hole cut out of each end and a 4 1/2" x 7 1/8" rectangular hole from its center. This center hole is covered on top by a 1/2" x 5 1/4" x 7 15/16" block of pine glued and nailed over opening. Both circular holes had surrounds glued to their top sides, but one surround has been lost. The remaining one is 9/32" x 7/8" x 5 1/16" diameter. It is made up of two sawn semi-circles of pine joined by scarf joints glued and tacked with copper tacks. Strips of pine are glued and nailed around the pattern's perimeter on the underside to form a lip and six spacers are glued and veiled to the underside as well. No finish.
