Description

Straw cutter of cherry with iron plate hinges. In cutter head opening there is an iron plate set into the base, a block of cherry with a leather pad tacked to top through-mortised into base, and a red oak alignment pin through-mortised into base. The handle has a mortise which fits over cherry with leather pad and a bone or ivory plate set into the underside of the handle at one side of the mortise. There are two small screw holes at other side of mortise, probably where the cutter head was mounted.
