Cup, Bleeding
Bleeding cup set used by Brother Thomas Corbett, Canterbury, NH
Description
Bleeding cup set. A wooden box (a) with three glass vessels (b,c,d) housed inside. The box has a brass escutcheon and is stained inside and out. The inside is lined with burgundy velvet that is faded to a yellow/brown. The bottom of the box is divided into four compartments, three along the back and one large compartment in the front. The large compartment is divided in two by a wooden block with a rounded groove. This block is lined on three sides with velvet, but is not fastened securely. The three compartments are made to fit a glass vessel. (b) is hollow with an opening under the base and has neck below an eliptical bulb; at top the vessel has a brass topper with a steel dropper extending to one side of the bulb. (c,d) are open bulbs that taper toward the base where there is a short outside lip; each has a brass topper, but no steel dropper like there is in (b).
