Description

Spinning wheel for wool. Oak beam, chestnut legs and wheel post, cherry head post with ivory ferrule. Wheel has cherry hub, ash or chestnut spokes, and maple rim. Wheel is fitted with Shaker-made accelerator head. Natural or no finish.

Notes

F.W. stands for Trustee Francis Winkley of the Church Family at Canterbury, NH Shaker Village. He was Trustee from 1807-1845 and, as such, all wooden ware produced by the Church Family during his tenure was stamped FW.
