Hexagonal, open weave basket of black ash splint, 1/16" wide, with elongated oval base and oval, split rim with single lashing. Flat rim. No handles.
One of a type of fancy basket also referred to as "furnishing" baskets, because sewing boxes were furnished with small baskets just inside the rim to hold thread and other supplies.
