A length of brown, woven or braided cord joined at the ends by laying 1/2" of so of each end parallel to the other and stitching them together with gray thread. Belt fit over pulley on end of window shade roller and was pulled to raise or lower shade. When shade was in desired position, the belt was wound around the tensioning button attached to the window casing to hold the shade in position.
