Description

Warping reel consisting of two large frames (a,b), maple uprights with ash cross bars mortised into uprights. Cross pieces have lap joints so that frames can be set perpendicular to each other. Holes through center of laps allow for standard on a base to be inserted around which the frames revolve. (c) is a recent base and standard (non-Shaker) consisting of a pine 2" x 4" lapped cross base with a length of 1 1/4" galvanized iron pipe for the standard which penetrates both the upper and lower cross laps on the reel. The original base (d) is of pine and a turned cherry standard which has been cut off approximately 9" above base. Reel uprights have pine 2" x 4" blocks bolted to their bottoms to which heavy casters are attached since new base has a higher stop than the original.
