Black ash splint basket inscribed "MED.", Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Circular basket of black ash splint. Uprights about 2 1/8" wide and weavers 1/4." Split rim with double lashing. Double grip "ear" handles that come down on the outside. Split upright in the center (5 1/2" in diameter) of base with weavers in a circular pattern. Black painted initials, "M.E.D."
Notes
The letters "MED" are believed to indicate that the basket was used in the Medicine Department.
