Cupboard over chest of drawers painted red, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Case piece almost entirely of white pine (Pinus strobus), except for turned maple (Acer spp.) knobs on the second drawer and a basswood (Tilia americana) back on one drawer. Cupboard has two doors, solid panel with bread-board ends secured by tongue and groove joints. Latches on doors (replacements) are brass with porcelain knobs. Cupboard cavity has pegs; one per side and three in rail across back. Painted red. Of the six drawers, two were originally equipped with half-mortise locks and brass keyhole liners. One keyhole liner remains. Iron butt hinges on doors. Top of case carcase dovetailed to ends.
