Bed
Bed frame with metal springs, Hancock or Mount Lebanon
Description
Wooden framed bed with metal springs. The bed frame has four posts with a simple cylindrical finial with a rounded top, above a rectangular shaft with chamfer edges, and rounded tapered legs with a circular cross section. The headboard, footboard, posts, and the bottom side rails are maple, the bottom slat of the footboard and the pieces of wood attached to the side rails are pine. The sides rails are mortise and tenon jointed to the posts, as is the headboard. The bed has seven unvarnished pine slats running width wise attached to a crossbar at each end, which are screwed to the bottom slats of the foodboard and headoard. The headboard and footboard have sloping upper corners and a rounded top edge. There are hemi-circular cut-outs with rounded edges, at the approximate middle of the sides where the headboard and footboard meets the posts. Attached to the slats are three rows of seven springs.
