Headboard of white ash (Fraxinus americana) consisting of a rectangular board 1/2" x 12 1/8" x 34 5/8" with two 9/16" x 2" x 14 7/16" cleats secured to the back. The bottom of the cleats served as tenons to slip into mortises in the bed frame, thereby holding the headboard in place. Front surface painted or washed dark brown.
