Description

Rope bed modified to accept commercially made wire web mattress support (1950.3200.1b). Bed posts, rails, bed bolt covers, rope knobs and wheels are maple (Acer spp.), while the headboard is white pine (Pinus strobus). Rails mortised into leg posts and secured with iron bed bolts. Cast iron fixtures slip over the leg bottoms and hold the steel wheel axles. Three pine cleats are screwed to the underside of the side rails to support mattress support frame and the inside corners of the two foot posts have been relieved so as to accept the mattress support frame.
