Description

A slat bed with a maple frame and pine slats. The bed frame comprises a headboard and foot board with turned posts at each corner. The top of each post is an egg-shaped finial atop a rectangular shaft with shaved top edges that ends with a rounded leg. The headboard and foot board are blind-mortise jointed to the bed posts and are similarly shaped with straight sides and a curved top; the headboard is 17 7/8" h and the foot board 9 5/8" h. The sides of the bed have a single board cut so the ends have a sloping curve blind-mortise jointed to the bed posts; the end by the foot board is 5 5/8" h while the end by the headboard is 7 7/8" h. The center of the sides are shorter than the ends and measures 3" h. Set inside the frame are 11 pine wood slats of various widths, attached by a thick woven tape nailed into each slat and tied into through-holes in the end slats. The end slats are widest and secured to the frame to hold the others in place.
