Vise

Description

A wooden vise. The body of the vise is a single piece of wood with rounded sides. The vise has one fixed and one movable jaw. Each jaw has a rectangular strip of leather nailed to the inside bottom, covering about half of each jaw's inside face. The jaws had a lip 11/16" h where there is another rectangular piece of leather, with a piece of tape or paper on top, attached. The body has a rectangular cut-out about half the width of it which reveals the threaded spindle which adjusts the movable jaw.The spindle has a turned wooden handle which protrudes 4 1/2" straight out of one side. The other half of the body has seven pairs of through-holes. The "fixed" jaw can be set into these holes to allow for different sized objects to fit between the jaws. Screwed to the body's side is a thin strip of metal to reinforce a crack in the vise.
