Shade
Window shade cord tensioner, North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
A forged back-plate of iron with two countersunk holes for wood-screws for fastening to window and a tapped hole in the center for a thumbscrew. The thumbscrew secures a thin, slotted iron plate with a turned maple knob-like device riveted to its end. Since the plate with knob slides along under thumbscrew and can be fixed at any point by tightening thumbscrew, it appears that a window shade pull could be looped around notch in knob and the knob could be retracted and held by thumbscrew, thereby holding the shade closed. Entire device was painted yellow but only spots of paint remain on the metal parts.
