Description

Rectangular cashbox. The cashbox has a rectangular funnel, 2 1/2" h, set into the left side of the lid and is 3 15/16" x 4 1/8" at top. The lid is hinged on back with a single steel knob in the middle of the front edge. There is a hook on the box face which latches onto the steel knob to lock the lid in place. The left short side has two small through-holes stacked vertically in the middle. The opposite short side has a rectangular cut out just above the center of the face. The inside face of the lid is stained lighter than the exterior sides. The inside of the box is divided into two sections, one 11 11/16" w and the other 5 11/16" w. The two are separated by a darkly stained piece of wood with two small holes stacked vertically in the middle and a larger third hole against the front side. The larger, left, compartment has two small pieces of wood against the front side with a thin piece of wood nailed on top. The smaller, right, compartment there is a piece of hemi-spherical cast steel on the back inside wall. The compartment has a through spindle with three circular disks, two of the same approximate size and the third smaller disk is notched on the like a gear. The spindle protrudes through the walls to the outside. It has a rough face on the back and is notched in on the front. There was once a handle to turn the spindle but it is now lost.
