Rug beater with a turned wooden handle. The handle is 5 1/8" long with a 2 3/4" tenon. Two ends of a bent wire are attached to either side of the tenon. The wire is secured to the tenon by two metal ferrules - one near the handle and the other at the end of the tenon - painted black. The metal wire has a wavy tear-drop shape.
