Splint
Description
Wooden leg splint. When bent at 90 degrees both pieces of wood display hollowed out sections. The back piece, meant for the calf, is curved on the back and hollowed out on the front. Attached to the back is a piece of leather with a belt loop on one end and 20 belt-loop holes on the other. The sides of this piece are carved so it tapers in slightly at the ankle. At the base of this piece is a metal bar threaded through the wood. The metal rod is threaded through the "foot" board as well to join the two and create a hinge. The "foot" board has straight sides and a rounded toe. The top of the "foot" board has a circular depression for a heel and a larger oval depression for the pad of a foot. At either side of the toe are two through-holes with twine looped through. Each piece of twine is approximately 15" long.
