Bit, Nose
Archimedean bit, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
A steel bit machined from 1/8" square steel stock. Bit shaft is square to approximately 1" below taper, then edges are slightly chamfered for next 1 3/16" at which point the bit is turned to a cylinder. After 15/16", the cylinder end is flattened and ground to a v-point. The turned hardwood Morse-taper was inserted into a correspondingly tapered hole in the drilling device for which these bits were made.
