Window sash, Hancock, MA
Description
Double-hung sash with frame of white pine (a) with six over six glass lites, frames probably of white pine, upper sash (b), lower (c). Sash stays on left and right (d,e), and thumbscrews, three per side (f-k). All of white pine except maple thumbscrews. Iron sash holder for lower sash. Various construction marks in pencil and chiseled slashes.
Notes
The window was removed from the original meetinghouse of the Hancock Shakers, which was built ca. 1786. The meetinghouse was demolished in 1938.
