Staircase from the dwelling house of the North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY

Description
Staircase of 12 stairs made of birch, pine and cherry woods with banisters, 1 3/4" in diameter, on either side of stairs. Front and back newel posts (of pine) are 8" around at base, which is thicker than stair balusters. There are two balusters on each side of stairs (30" h and 3" around base), except for the bottom stair, which only has one. Stairs have about 7" riser (bottom step is slightly higher) and an 8 1/2" tread with rounded nosing. On the reverse side: stairs supported by left, right, and center stringers 1 3/4" thick.
Notes
This staircase was removed from the dwelling house of the North Family, Mount Lebanon, before the building was demolished in 1973. It was originally located between the third floor and the attic, in the portion of the building erected in 1846. It was part of a hallway used by the sisters.
