Four-bar clothing hanger, Hancock, MA
Description
Wooden hanger with four "arms". The vertical shaft has a large hole at top to facilitate hanging on a peg. There are four crosspieces, "arms", attached to shaft with two screws each. The bottom three arms are similar profile and their screw heads are covered with wood fill. The top arms is distinctly different. There is evidence of glue at joints of bottom three arms with the shaft. There is a heavy gauge wire attached to the top of the shaft, secured with small gauged wire lashing.
