Steam-bent maple box (a) and lid (b) bands with swallow tails - two on box, one on lid - secured with copper tacks. The eastern red cedar (?) top and white pine bottom header are also held with copper tacks. Inside the box is a "tomato" pincushion (c) of a floral printed silk stitched with white silk thread and with a faux pearl sewn in the center of each side. This pincushion fits into the box very tightly but is removable via a stain pull tape. Heavily varnished.
