Description

Machined iron or steel taper (Morse?) topped by a cylinder. Both ends are flat; the small end has a depression where it engaged the metal lathe center; the cylinder end has a deep tapered square hole in its center. A 1/8" diameter hole is drilled through the cylindrical section forming a channel in one wall of the tapered square hole. This appears to have allowed a pin to be inserted through the cylinder to engage a notch in the side of a tang.
