Saw-Set
Saw-set, Hancock, MA
Description
Saw-set of steel with shaft with offset end and thumbscrew. On portion of shaft in line with handle a thumbscrew and brass washer holds an anvil with six different sized projections (for different sizes of saw teeth). Another thumbscrew is fit into a tapped hole in shaft which pushes the underside of the anvil away from the shaft, presumably to allow for different saw blade thicknesses. The saw-set is set into a between-centers turned maple handle with a brass ferrule.
