Description
Porcelain footed oval dish (a) with a lid (b) decorated in a cobalt transfer-printed design. The dish's foot and exterior edge of the lip have a border of alternating groups of convex lines. From the exterior lip's border hang two baskets on each side with two large floral branches extending from the baskets. In between each basket set is a small bouquet tied with a bow. Separating these sequences are handles, on the short sides of the oval dish. The handles have a tripartite shape with scrolls on the ends with a ridged disk at the center. Just the scroll ends attach to the dish with acanthus-like molded decoration, which is outlined in cobalt. The lid rests on top of the dish and has an interior lip to keep the lip from sliding. The edge of the lid and its center are outlined with the same alternating border as the dish. In between these two borders are four hanging baskets with floral branches, one on each side. There is a small bouquet tied with a bow at the base in between two of the hanging baskets. The lid is domed with a pull on top. The base of the pull is outlined in cobalt. The pull has a small stem and increases in size and is ridged. The ridges are dotted at top with cobalt. The pull then becomes conical in shape and is colored cobalt at the tip.
