Saucer
W.H. Grindley Arabic pattern saucer, Canterbury, NH
c. 1880-1891
Description
Cream-colored earthenware saucer. The saucer has a green-gray transfer-printed floral design. Along the scalloped edge of the saucer is a border of half-daisies, alternating between pointing up and down, and a single line of small empty circles. Layered on top of the border is an alternating stylized floral decoration, one with three large flowers, and the other with a single flower enclosed in a diamond. The underside of the saucer lacks decoration and curves upward. The interior of the saucer is concave and at the center the saucer has a slight indentation for a cup.
