Last, Shoe
Shoe last, North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Wood block cut in the form of a shoe. The last has a round toe, from which the instep slopes upward and then plateaus into an elongated oval. In between the two inscriptions on the top oval there is a tube hole 7/16". Below the top of the last's body there is a through-hole. From the top the heel curve extends to the seat. The seat sides are curved to form the waist before growing to the widest point at the last joints then tapering to form the toe. The outside edge of the seat is clear, but there clusters of nail holes at the heel, joint, and toe.
