Shoe last, Canterbury, NH
Description
Wood block cut in the form of a shoe. The last has a rounded toe. The height of the last increases toward the instep then plateaus at the top in an elongated oval shape. Below the top there is a through-hole, which is filled with a plaster-like substance. This substance is visible from one side of the through-hole only. From the top the heel curve extends to the seat. The seat sides are curved to form the waist before growing to the widest point at the last joints then tapering to form the toe.
